Stamps Mourn Death Of Harry Langford

It is with great sadness the Calgary Stampeders learn of the death early Monday morning of Harry Langford. He was 92.

One of the early stars in franchise history, Langford was a lineman who played 135 games over nine seasons – 1950-58 – for the Red and White and was a five-time all-star. Early during his tenure with the Stamps, Langford was teammates with his brother Jim.

Including pre-season and playoffs, the durable Langford at one point played 150 consecutive games for Calgary. The Winnipeg native was added to the Stampeders Wall of Fame in 1992 and inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

Following his playing career, Langford remained in Calgary for a time and in 1965 was named coach of the city’s Colts junior squad. He eventually settled in Nanaimo, B.C., and remained there until his death.
