Calgary signed Goddard as a free agent on May 14, 2012. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the NFL’s New York Giants in 2006 and spent part of that season with the New York Jets, before returning to the Giants through 2007-08. He has also been a member of the Seattle Seahawks (2008-09) and was on the New Orleans Saints practice roster in 2009. In 2010, Goddard was a member of the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League.

In his rookie season, Goddard started four games at right tackle before going down with a season-ending knee injury on July 28 against the BC Lions.

College

Goddard played in 44 games — including 37 starts — for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Goddard started all 12 games as a senior in 2005, playing eight games at right tackle, one at left tackle and three at right guard, and was co-winner of South Carolina’s outstanding offensive lineman award. Goddard was also an all-Southeastern Conference candidate at right tackle. He started all 11 games at right tackle as a junior and started 11 of 12 games as a sophomore in 2003. As a freshman, Goddard played in nine games with three starts at centre and was named a freshman all-American and a member of the all-SEC freshman team by The Sporting News. Goddard was named to the 2005 all-SEC pre-season second team by The Sporting News.

Notable

Goddard was a defensive lineman at Dunbar High School in Dayton, Ohio, recording 140 tackles, 11 sacks, four fumble recoveries and two interceptions in his career. Goddard was named all-region and all-Midwest by SuperPrep and garnered first-team all-star honours. He also starred on the school’s basketball team and made all-state. He majored in hotel, restaurant and tourism management in college. Goddard won two Super Bowl rings as a member of the New Orleans Saints (Super Bowl XLIV) and the New York Giants (Super Bowl XLII).
